I want to make and sell lipbalms, soaps, shaving soap, bath milks, mascara and a multi-use mineral powder (can use it on eyes, cheeks etc). All the items will be made from natural base products and will not include preservatives, artificial colourants or fragrances. I know that all cosmetics manufactured in the EU have to comply with the safety regulations revised in 2004 but how do I go about getting certified for my products?

Taking care of your hands is imperative; you will need to take the time out to look after your hands. You know your hands like, well, the back of your hand- but do you like what you see? Our hands are frequently less attractive than we'd like. Between dry, wrinkly skin and nails that have seen better days, they could really look and feel a lot better. And it isn't that hard to let them. Just a few minutes here and there, and a few handy tips, will keep your hands looking beautiful and feeling great.

With everything we put our hands through, it's no wonder they don't always look their best. They're constantly exposed to the elements, in the sun and in the freezing cold, their skin getting baked and frozen and dried in the open air. And we use them hard, whether we're cleaning, roughing them up on the job, or gardening. Some of this can't be avoided, but a lot of it can, and should.

First, protect your hands when you can. In the summer, they need sunscreen just as much as the rest of you, and in the winter, protect them from the cold that dries them out with gloves and heavy moisturizer. When you wash the dishes, don't soak your hands in the soap along with the dishes- when it dries afterwards, your skin loses some of the moisture that keeps it healthy.

Wear gloves to protect your skin from the soap. And never, ever use heavy cleaning products without gloves, especially products that include bleach. These products can do irreparable damaged to your hands' skin, causing premature wrinkling, and, in extreme cases, even injury. It really pays to take all the precautions necessary to save your hands.

Keep your hands moisturized, whether this means throwing out your old harsh soap and replacing it with one that helps keep your skins moisture in balance, or just getting a good hand moisturizer. To make sure you apply it regularly, have a small bottle that you keep in your purse, as well as one that you take with you to your work. You'll be able to feel the difference.

To truly do your hands justice, you have to keep your nails nicely trimmed and tended. They should all be trimmed down to the same level, and cut into the same shape for the cleanest look. File their edges smooth, to avoid tearing your nails or ruining your favorite sweater with a bad snag. Keep your cuticles under control by soaking them in warm water and pushing them back, to make your nails look longer and healthier. You'll be glad you did, every time you offer a new friend your beautiful, soft hand for a shake.

Our nails have it rough. We bite them, we break them, we bend them, and we use them to perform all sorts of odd jobs that they weren't designed for. It's amazing that they don't look worse than they usually do. Which is why, at the end of the day, they deserve a little care and attention. It doesn't take much to transform them from grubby nubs to the elegant nails you have always wanted them to be, without having to get a professional manicure. Just once a week, look at your nails and think, "What can I do for you?"

First, there's nothing like a good scrubbing. Everyone should have a nail brush, to help keep grime and dirt out from under the fingernail. Not only is it not sanitary, but no matter how nicely tended your nails are otherwise, they will look terrible if there is visible gunk under your nails. Scrub them with some mild in warm water for immediate improvement. Scrubbing also removes any germs that might be resident under your nails.

Next, take a look at your cuticles. If they are overly long or have a weathered edge, they will obscure the fresh bases of your nails, making them look shorter than they are. Soak your hands in warm water for a couple of minutes to soften them up, and then gently push them back. Your nails will look longer, and healthier. This will give you nails not only a longer but also more delicate look.

Once you've taken care of your unruly cuticles, get out your nail trimmers and go to work. All of your nails should be cut to the same height, and be cut in the same shape. It might seem cruel to cut them all back when only one or two have broken, but it will look better overall- and they do grow back. When you've finished trimming, file the cut edges to a smooth surface, to avoid snagging and tearing.

If you have healthy nails, at this point you may chose to polish your nails in the color of your choice. If, on the other hand, your nails are prone splitting and flaking, you should probably stay away from polishes Both polishes and nail-polish removers can dry your nails out, contributing to breakage and splitting. Instead of painting your nails, you might consider buffing them. It gives your nails the same glow that a clear polish would, without weakening them. Buffing also beautifies the over all look of your hand.

Some common kitchen items that can be used to make natural beauty products are Epsom salt, bananas, honey, oatmeal, olive and vegetable oils, yogurt, mayonnaise.  This is just a short list of household products that can be used for skin or hair care.  There are quite a few other natural products that can do wonders for your appearance.

There are two common ingredients that you probably will not have on hand when you are learning how to make natural beauty products.  These are beeswax and natural soap bars.  Beeswax and other natural waxes can be found at health food stores, soap making shops, and some craft stores.  For those allergic to bees, there are other vegetable- and flower-based waxes to choose from.

Olive oil is a very versatile home remedy that can be used for a number of natural beauty purposes.  It will moisturize the dry skin of your elbows, cuticles, knees, and feet.  Olive oil can be added to a warm bath for even more moisture and softness.  For dry hair or scalp, simply massage the oil directly in with your hands.

You can even make your own natural exfoliating treatment from olive oil.  Mix the oil with twice as much brown sugar to create a thick paste.  Use this paste as a pre-shower skin treatment by rubbing gently into the skin.  Rinse thoroughly in the shower to remove all paste and any dead skin cells.

If you have bananas on hand, you can also use those as a moisturizer for dry and cracked skin.  Mash a ripe banana until it becomes a paste that is smooth enough to apply to your face or hands.  Let the paste soak in for about ten minutes, then rinse off and pat dry.  For added moisturizing, add in a teaspoon of olive oil before applying to dry, parched skin.

These are just a few of the all natural beauty products you can make at home without spending much money.  Other great natural home remedies include facial cleansers, herbal bath soaks, skin butter, and natural body scrubs.  Most of these recipes can be made with simple ingredients that you already have at home.

Do you want to look and feel more fabulous for 2009? Here are several tips to get you on the right path for looking even more beautiful and gorgeous for the new year.

1. Keep your skin looking good and well hydrated with a proper skincare regimen- Who doesn’t want fabulous skin that stays in great condition for the new year. Start off with an exfoliator and use it once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells which will allow your face to glow (For oily skin, use an exfoliator about 3 times a week). Make sure to use a good face moisturizer that won’t clog pores and also try soothing products like a toner to help condition the face too.

For the body, make sure the skin is well moisturized by applying lotion everyday after showering and use a body wash that’s not too harsh for the skin. If you really want to spend dough, go to a spa once in a while to pamper your skin. Maybe every 4 months if you can afford it.

2. Revitalize your hair by keeping it healthy and hydrated- Say bye-bye to damage hair for the new year and say hello to healthy hair. Maintenance is key so make sure to trim your ends on a regular basis, and try a conditioning treatment or hair masque once a week. If your hair is badly damage with lots of breakage, go to a quality hair salon and let them take a look at your hair. They can give you the best advice for your hair and improve its health and shine.

3. Eat well and exercise- This is #1 new year resolution that’s mentioned by the majority of the population every year and yet we never fulfill it. We never commit; but we need to stop doing that. It’s crucial to eat well and exercise for good health. Here’s a good place to start: Invest in a gym and invest even more with a personal trainer. 6. Invest in a new hair cut- Be bold and try something different. Hair trends are constantly changing so keep up with the current style. A new look is always good and who doesn’t want sexy hairstyles worn by several celebrities. Don’t forget that hair always grow back, so if you have long hair be daring and try a shorter or mid-length cut. If you have short hair, add extensions for long flowing hair. What ever you do, please don’t try to cut your hair yourself. Let’s leave that to the professionals.

7. Keep up-to-date on the latest beauty trends by subscribing to a beauty and health magazine- I subscribe to several magazines to stay current on new beauty products and trends. Here’s some good ones to check out: Glamour, Allure, In Style, Shape, Cosmopolitan, Self, Health, and Lucky. WWD.com is also another great magazine to subscribe to that’s online based.

8. Clean out your makeup- Get rid of the old and add in new products. You should update your makeup bag every season. This can help you to stay current with the season’s new makeup colors and shades.

9. Update your beauty look by experimenting with new products- Makeup trends frequently changes too so look even more fabulous by trying new products. Don’t be afraid of colors that you’ve never tried before. You might find that perfect color that you’d never dream of touching and improve your look. So, stop by a beauty counter and get a makeover or stop by a MAC counter and let a makeup artist create a new look for you.
